Women's Basketball Release 12.30
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -- While Colgate and Lafayette opened the Patriot League slate last Tuesday, Dec. 22, the schedule will be in full swing as the other eight teams begin League play on Wednesday, Dec. 30. All ten teams will be back on the court in the New Year on Saturday, Jan. 2. Action can be watched on the Patriot League Network.

* Lafayette hosted Colgate on Tuesday to open the Patriot League slate; the Raiders won 72-59.

Colgate Captures First League Victory, Defeats Lafayette
A pair of seniors, Colgate's Josie Stockill and Lafayette's Jamie O'Hare, posted career highs in scoring on Tuesday, Dec. 22 when the Raiders and Leopards played each other in the Kirby Sports Center to open the Patriot League slate. Stockill produced 27 points while O'Hare led the host Leopards with 26; but it was Stockill's 13 blocks -- an NCAA individual game-high -- that helped propel Colgate to victory and an NCAA team game-high of 18 blocked shots. Stats aside, in the opening 10 minutes of the game, Lafayette turned the ball over nine times that resulted in seven points. The Raiders led by as many as 11 points in the first quarter and the Leopards chipped away at the lead to come within one, 21-20, with 5:35 to go in the second. It was as close as they would come though, as Colgate never let go of the lead the rest of the way. While Stockill led the way for the Raiders, senior Randyll Butler also had a standout performance with 10 points and 10 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. Senior Paige Kriftcher and junior Katie Curtis had reach double digits as well, scoring 16 and 11 points respectively. For Lafayette, junior Ashley Lutz posted a season-high 10 points paired with eight rebounds, while classmate Harriet Ottewill-Soulsby chipped in seven boards.
It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year, the Patriot League Slate is Here
All 10 women's basketball teams began another break, this time for the holidays. Boston University, Colgate, and Lafayette returned to the court first on Monday, while the Leopards also played a contest on Tuesday, to close out the regular season schedule. But the most wonderful time of the year began, as Colgate and Lafayette opened the Patriot League slate last Tuesday in Easton, with the visiting Raiders leaving with a 72-59 victory over the home team. The rest of the League joins in on the fun on Wednesday, Dec. 30, playing in the final games of 2015. Boston U. looks to finding its first win of the season when the Terriers welcome Holy Cross at 2 p.m. Loyola will also play as a host on Wednesday, taking on American at 4:30 p.m. Two games will wrap up the opening day for the eight teams, with both the academies serving as hosts for tipoffs at 7 p.m. Bucknell will play Navy while Lehigh takes on Army West Point. All ten teams will then be in action on Saturday, Jan. 2, playing the first games in 2016.
The Patriot League schedule consists of games mostly being played on Wednesdays and Saturdays with a few in between.
Patriot League Among NCAA Statistics
There a handful of players and teams that rank among the top in NCAA Division I. With her stellar performance against Lafayette to open to Patriot League season, Colgate senior Josie Stockill set an NCAA individual game-high of 13 blocks -- setting a new Patriot League record -- and now leads the nation with 4.55 blocked shots per game. The Napier, New Zealand native also is right behind Chattanooga's Jasmine Joyner -- the leader with 52 blocked shots -- with 50 blocks this season. Stockill's 13 blocks also helped the Raiders to an NCAA team game-high of 18 blocks, and as a team, Colgate is third with 7.0 blocked shots per game. Stockill isn't the only individual from the Patriot League to rank among the nation's best. Lehigh's Lexi Martins still ranks at No. 1 in defensive rebounds per game (11), No. 2 in rebounds (168), and is also at No. 2 in rebounds per game (15.3). There are several other players in the League as well as teams that are among the Nation's Top 25 statistically, which can be found on the fifth page of this document.
Army No. 11 In Mid-Major Top 25, Receiving Vote in USA Coaches Poll
Army West Point first appeared in the College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 at No. 24 with 99 points on Nov. 24. The Black Knights have now being holding down the No. 11 spot for a second-straight week, sporting 458 points and a 9-1 record -- their lone loss coming earlier in the season at the hands of then No. 9/14 Duke, 72-61. In addition, Army is listed as receiving a vote in the latest USA Today Coaches Poll that was released in the afternoon on Tuesday, Dec. 29. As a team, the Black Knights have the fifth-best three-point field goal percentage across all NCAA DI programs at 41.7 (73-for-175) in addition to owning the eighth-best team-game high, in the same category, at 64.7 (11-for-17) which was set at home in a 65-62 win over Albany.
Patriot League Championship, Army-Navy on CBS Sports Network
Both matchups between Army West Point and Navy this season are scheduled to air on CBS Sports Network, with the first of the two being played at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, January 23 at 11:30 a.m. as part of a double-header feature with the men's teams. A second double-header featuring the Army West Point and Navy squads is on tap for Saturday, February 20, this time from Annapolis with the women tipping off at 11 a.m. CBS Sports Network will also televise the 2016 Patriot League Women's Basketball Championships, for the seventh year in a row, on Saturday, March 12 at 6 p.m.

American Sports Network to Carry Pair of Regular Season Games
American Sports Network will broadcast two women's basketball contests, beginning with action between Holy Cross and Lehigh in Bethlehem , Pa. on Sunday, January 17 at 3 p.m. The ASN schedule concludes with the regular season as Bucknell visits Lafayette on Wednesday, March 2 at 6 p.m.

2016 Patriot League Tournament
The 2016 Patriot League Tournament, featuring all 10 teams, begins with the first round on Wednesday, March 5 followed by the quarterfinals two days later. The semifinals will be played on Friday, March 11, with the Patriot League Championship held on Saturday, March 12 at 6 p.m. The first round, quarterfinal and semifinal games will be shown on Patriot League Network, with the championship on CBS Sports Network. All Patriot League Tournament games will be played at the site of the higher seed.

Once again, the Patriot League will partner with Campus Insiders on the Patriot League Network, a streaming platform that will enable fans to watch League regular season and postseason events for free. With the exception of the contests on CBS Sports Network, all home games both in non-League and Patriot League play will feature free live streaming on PLN.

AMERICAN (2-9) The Eagles were unable to overcome a 26-point deficit at Pitt, dropping its final non-League game, 76-58, on Tuesday, Dec. 22 ... American did, however, outscore the Panthers in the fourth quarter 24-18 ... Sophomore Maria Liddane posted a career-high 12 points and was a perfect 5-for-5 from the field ... Junior Lauren Crisler pitched in 10 points and also hauled in seven rebounds ... Before the loss to Pitt, American captured its first win of the 2015-16 season on Dec. 17 at Dartmouth ... The Eagles edged out the Big Green, 45-41, putting together 12 points in the fourth quarter ... Freshmen Kaitlyn Lewis and Cecily Carl led the way, scoring 14 and 12 points respectively ... American posted a second win at Bender Arena over Manhattan, 52-48 on Dec. 20 ... AU held off a late rally from the Jaspers after opening the game with an 8-0 run ... Junior Lauren Crisler posted 12 points while senior Michelle Holmes chipped in nine points in addition to 13 boards.
ARMY WEST POINT (9-1) The Black Knights defeated Emerson 86-47 in Christl Arena on Saturday, Dec. 19 to close out the regular season ... Army has now won six games in a row and saw three different players in double-digit figures ... The Black Knight's victory also marked the 600 win in varsity history ... Senior Kelsey Minato posted a team best 23 points, while freshman Madison Hovren matched her career-high of 11 points ... Senior Jean Parker also contributed double-digit figures with 10 points.
BOSTON UNIVERSITY (0-11) The Terriers dropped its finals non-League contest to Vermont at home on Monday, Dec. 28, 60-45 ... Boston U. struggled from the floor, shooting 24.6 ... Senior Troi Melton and junior Courtney Latham led the team with 11 points each, while sophomore Corrine Williams tallied a career-best six steals against the Catamounts ... The Terriers look to a fresh start on Wednesday when they host Holy Cross to begin League play.
BUCKNELL (6-5) The Bison were coming off their best game of the season but were unable to keep it going ... Bucknell fell to Morgan State on Tuesday, 64-50, to end the non-League schedule before beginning Patriot League action ... The Bears capitalized on 18 Bison turnovers and scored 20 points, including 10 of their 16 points in the first quarter ... Going into the half, Morgan State held a 34-23 lead and later led by as much as 14 points in the third frame ... Bucknell came within six with 8:28 in regulation but were unable to cut the deficit by any more ... Sophomore Jacquie Klotz recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 15 points and 14 rebounds ... Junior Claire DeBoer also saw double figures, chipping in 14 points.
COLGATE (3-8, 1-0) The Raiders added its third win of the season, a 52-50 decision over Siena on Monday, Dec. 28, after opening the Patriot League slate with a 72-59 win over host Lafayette on Dec. 22 ... Colgate never trailed to the home team at any point of the contest ... Napier, New Zealand native Josie Stockill had a career night, posting personal game-bests of 27 points and 13 blocks ... The senior set an NCAA individual-game high and a Patriot League record with her double-figures in blocks, and she is now the program's all-time leader in blocks with 182 ... Stockill's defense also helped the Raiders total 18 blocks as a team, also an NCAA team game-high ... Senior Randyll Butler also posted a double-double, notching 10 points and 10 rebounds, while senior Paige Kriftcher chipped in 16 points and junior Katie Curtis posted 11.
HOLY CROSS (3-8) The Crusaders were unable to reach Dartmouth, after a run by the Big Green in the fourth quarter, and fell to the Ivy foe 60-54 in the final non-League game of the season ... Holy Cross started with an 11-4 lead but a rally from Dartmouth and an exchanging of points resulted in the two teams going into the locker room at the break with the score tied at 31-31 ... A 14-2 run by the Big Green gave them a 49-37 lead in the fourth quarter, and the Crusaders were only able to come within two ... Senior Lisa Mifsud (12 pts., 5 assists) and sophomore Infiniti Thomas-Waheed (12 pts., 4 stls., 3 reb.) led the team in scoring, while senior Molly Hourigan (11 pts., 9 reb.) and junior Madelyn Ganser (11 pts., 4 asst.) were right behind ... The contest was the fifth annual "Get Fit with the Crusaders Game" and had the highest attendance in the history of the "Get Fit Game" ... Over 2,800 public school student attended to help the overall spectator count reach 3,225 - the highest since the all-time record of 4,000 on Feb. 11, 2006.
LAFAYETTE (2-9, 0-1) Playing in the University of Virginia Cavalier Classic, the Leopards dropped a pair of contests in the tournament ... Lafayette was held to single-digit points in three out of the four quarters against Richmond, falling on Monday 54-46 ... The Leopards then held a 43-36 lead over Coppin State on Tuesday, with 4:24 left in the third quarter ... However, the Eagles went on an 18-2 run over the next 9:52 of play and Lafayette committed 12 of its season-high 27 turnovers in the final 14 minutes of the eventual 64-57 setback ... It's the third consecutive loss for the Leopards, after dropping their League home-opener to Colgate on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 72-59 ... Senior Jamie O'Hare tallied a career-high 26 points, shooting 11-of-21.
LEHIGH (7-4) The Mountain Hawks overcame a slow start to take a second-half lead, only to have host Rider force overtime and win it 61-60 ... Senior Kerry Kinek led the team with 18 points while sophomore Quinci Mann was right behind with 17, 15 of which were scored in the second half ... Senior Elizabeth Sharlow also saw double figures with 12 points while junior Lexi Martin hauled in 14 rebounds ... However, Lehigh bounced back with a 63-56 win over Hampton on the road ... Mann once again contributed double-digit points, leading with 21 ... Both Kinek and Martins each posted 15 boards while Martins also pitched in 15 points for her ninth double-double of the season.
LOYOLA MARYLAND (3-8) The Greyhounds held a slight advantage, 20-19, after the first quarter but were held to just six points in the second frame by St. Francis Brooklyn and entered the break trailing by 13, 39-26 ... Loyola went on a 9-1 run to come within five with 1:23 left in the third quarter, but the Terriers went on to score four-unanswered points to close the frame and lead the remainder of the way ... The Greyhounds fell to St. Francis Brooklyn 64-50 ... Senior Colleen Marshall led the team with nine points and four assists in addition to adding five rebounds ... Classmate Jeneh Perry posted eight points and also had a team-best six rebounds ... Sophomore CaLee Gelbaugh also chipped in eight points as well as a pair of assists and steals as she made her collegiate debut.
NAVY (6-5) The Mids came hot out of the gate, starting the game with a 14-0 run in the opening minutes to lead Air Force at the end of the first quarter, 20-7 ... The start was all Navy needed as the Mids went on to capture a 64-46 home victory over the academy rivals ... After Navy held a 33-17 advantage going into the break, the home team led the Falcons by at least 12 points throughout the remainder of the contest ... Four Mids ended the final non-League contest before the Patriot League slate with double-digit points ... Sophomore Taylor Dunham led with 14 while junior Ashanti Kennedy was right behind with 13 ... Junior Sarita Condie and freshman Bianca Roach each connected for 10 points ... Kennedy also posted a team-best five rebounds.
